The creation of ELYSIS announced in 2018, the result of a partnership between Alcoa and Rio Tinto and supported by the governments of Canada, Quebec and Apple, demonstrates the commitment and vision of the aluminium industry in addressing climate change. The industry will thus be able to revolutionize the way aluminium is produced here in Canada and around the world with an innovative breakthrough technology eliminating all greenhouse gases directly related to the aluminium production process. The emission of oxygen thus resulting from the process will in itself be beneficial to the environment.
